Mr. Confuse – Right On / Low Life

How good is this? Mr. Confuse shows his talent to build hard hittin’ beats in a conscious hiphop style. Drop the needle for this funky beatmonster and a prancing piano hook with classy sax stabs sure will infect you. Cool down on a massive horns break until the saxophone steps into a dirty chopped Public Enemy style. Flip for the slow burning funk groover ‘Low Life’. Starting with some catchy stabs this souldchild turns into an echo from the past. Well balanced with some delicious brass parts and rare used effects this is a real vintage style headnodder. Sample madness galore! (more…)

BOTY 2008Since the first Battle Of The Year (BOTY) has taken place in 1990, the annual breathtaking competition of international dance formations has become THE world championship of breakdance. In 2006, more than 400 crews with more than 3.000 dancers took part in 26 official elimination contests worldwide to qualify for the final battle in Braunschweig, Germany.

To transport the diversity of the competition, the BOTY soundtrack includes various artists and styles: from classical Funk with live instruments to Oldschool Hip Hop with an electronic touch and modern House/Disco grooves.

Highlights on this album include opener “BOTY” featuring the event presenters MC Trix and Spax, DJ Nas’D's hymne for the new Dominance Records platform “Save Our Sounds”, the remix of the Debbie Debb classic “When I Hear Music” by Mr. Confuse (from the album ‘Feel The Fire’) and the  bigbeat  bomb  “Jump  and  Race”  by  Dominance  Resident  Dagobert. The track is also featured on the official DVD. (more…)

Lookout Weekend

| May 5th, 2008 | posted in 12inches

„Lookout Weekend“ is the first single from „Feel The Fire“, the upcoming debut album by Mr. Confuse to be released in autumn 2008. For this release Mr. Confuse is checking in with a cover version of Debbie Deb’s electro classic in true organic funk style with an incredible Horn section, while Lack Of Afro spices things up with an authentic deep funk mix.

Mr. Confuse is no stranger to the world of funk and breaks. In early 2005 he founded a producer team called Breakout. Being a crafted producer and songwriter he came up with the idea of reworking the 80s classic “Planet Rock” by Afrika Bambaataa and transformed it into a heavy funk tune. The tune was released on 7” and shortly after on 12” including a jazzy version of “Planet Rock“ which gained massive worldwide respect. (more…)
